Organizers say need for Christmas donations is growing

Every year, hundreds of Central New York families donate to the Salvation Army’s Christmas Bureau to make the holidays a little brighter for families in need.
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Every year, hundreds of Central New York families donate to the Salvation Army’s Christmas Bureau to make the holidays a little brighter for families in need.

The big giveaway is still a month away, but the Salvation Army is collecting donations to help more than 3,000 families in Central New York.

They say the need has grown considerably.

“This is about supporting families and having the traditions of their own family holiday and celebrate and spend that holiday in their own home and together we can say to families here are the resources to make sure that happens in your own home,” said Linda Wright of the Salvation Army.

Organizers are targeting Dec. 23 at the Oncenter as the key date in the campaign.

More information is available on the Salvation Army's website.
