Police: Le Moyne students have purses stolen at gunpoint

Syracuse Police are currently investigating two robberies, but are trying to determine if they are related.

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Syracuse Police are currently investigating two robberies, but are trying to determine if they are related.

Police say the latest incident occurred on Monday, at 11:45 am at Audubon Parkway and Fayette Boulevard when two female Le Moyne college students were robbed at gunpoint while waiting for a bus.

Two men approached the women and one suspect displayed a black handgun, according to police. The suspects took both of the victims’ purses, police said, then ran towards Briarcliff Estate Apartments.

Officials describe the suspects as:
•African-American males
•In their mid teens
•Thin build
•Both seen wearing dark clothes
•Both were wearing hooded sweatshirts pulled up tight around their faces

One suspect had a black and white bandanna covering his nose and lower face

The other suspect, with the pistol, wore sunglasses, police reported.

The victims were not injured during the robbery.

Detectives say they are investigating a similar robbery that occurred on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 4:40 pm. in the same area, when a man was pushed against his car and had his shoulder bag taken from him by three suspects.

It’s unknown at this time if the suspects are the same, but the descriptions are similar, according to detectives.
