Police find vehicle allegedly involved in deadly North Country hit-and-run

Ogdensburg (WSYR-TV) – State Police in New York’s North Country are investigating a deadly hit-and-run accident in Ogdensburg.

State Police say two 19-year-old Lancaster men – Benjamin Schick and John Robinson – were walking along 3320 County Route 6 in the town of Morristown just before 9 p.m. when Schick was struck by a car.

He was taken to Claxton-Hepburn Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Robinson told police the vehicle that struck Schick was a dark colored SUV traveling east.

On Monday morning, police located a vehicle that was reported stolen on Sunday night, when they believed it was connected to the deadly incident.

About an hour after the incident, Ogdensburg Police received a report that a blue 2001 Honda CRV had been stolen from the Echoes on the Lake convenience store, which is near the scene of the incident.

They confirmed that the vehicle they found was damaged, but they did not know whether the damage was consistent with the accident details.

Police said they have not taken anyone into custody in relation to the hit-and-run.
