(CNN/WSYR-TV) -- Senator Charles Schumer’s office on Capitol Hill was on lockdown for nearly two hours Wednesday, as police searched for a person who was possibly handing out suspicious envelopes.

A representative with Schumer’s Office says he was in no way a target of any type of threat.

The Hart Senate Office Building, where Schumer’s office is located, was cordoned off earlier in the day as police searched for the suspect, according to a CNN report.

On Tuesday, a letter sent to U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, of Mississippi, tested positive for the deadly poison ricin. According to CNN, that letter was postmarked from Memphis and intercepted before it got into the hands of Senator Wicker.

Also, a letter addressed to the President containing a suspicious substance was also intercepted at a remote White House mail screening facility.

Law enforcement officials told CNN the letters – postmarked out of Memphis, Tennessee - were signed by the same person and included the same message.
