Seneca County man accused of stealing ambulance funds

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office has charged the president of a local volunteer ambulance company with more than a dozen counts of larceny.
Seneca Falls (WSYR-TV) – The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office has charged the president of a local volunteer ambulance company with more than a dozen counts of larceny.

Richard Heichel, 44, of 17 Clinton St., Seneca Falls, has been charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree and with 14 counts of petit larceny.

According to the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, Heichel used a debit card from the South Seneca Community Volunteer Ambulance Corp. Inc.’s bank account for his own purposes.

They also say he stole money raised during a community fundraiser for the service.

Heichel was released on his own recognizance.

He is scheduled to appear in Seneca Falls Court on Jan. 17.
