Seneca County man charged with bigamy

A Seneca County man is facing bigamy charges after he was allegedly caught trying to marry a second woman.
Seneca Falls (WSYR-TV) – A Seneca County man is facing bigamy charges after he was allegedly caught trying to marry a second woman.

According to the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, 38-year-old James Ector of State Route 89 in Interlaken married a woman in the town of Varick, while he remained married to another woman.

He obtained the marriage license in the city of Canandaigua.

They charged him with bigamy and offering a false instrument for filing, both felonies, and unlawfully procuring a marriage license, a misdemeanor.

He was issued an appearance ticket and scheduled to appear in the Varick Town Court on July 10 to answer the bigamy charge and then Canandaigua City Court at a later date to answer for the other charges.
