Smoke, fire threat prompts recall of more than 2 million dehumidifiers

More than 2 million dehumidifiers are being recalled because of fire and smoke hazards.
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – More than 2 million dehumidifiers are being recalled because of fire and smoke hazards.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that 12 separate brands are being recalled because of the problem.

They say 165 incidents were reported – including 46 fires – with the damage totaling $2.15 million.

2.2 million were sold in the US, while 52,500 were sold in Canada.

The recall involves 20, 25, 30, 40, 45, 50, 65 and 70-pint dehumidifiers with brand names Danby, De’Longhi, Fedders, Fellini, Frigidaire, Gree, Kenmore, Norpole, Premiere, Seabreeze, SoleusAir and SuperClima.
