New York could be the next state to legalize marijuana use if at least one state legislator has her way.
Albany (WSYR-TV/WETM-TV) - New York could be the next state to legalize marijuana use if at least one state legislator has her way.

Tuesday, State Senator Diane Savino introduced a bill in the Senate that would legalize medical marijuana for patients with serious medical conditions like cancer or AIDS, WETM-TV in Elmira reported on Tuesday.

Under the Compassionate Care Act, doctors would be authorized to prescribe marijuana to certified patients or designated caregivers to possess up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana.

People with medical prescriptions would be issued registry identification cards by the New York Department of Health.
