Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Syracuse Police are warning store owners of robberies targeting stores in a bold and terrifying way. One of them was caught on tape Sunday morning at the North Side Market on Oak Street.

Being robbed is every store owner’s nightmare, and it’s even worse when the suspect or suspects are armed.

“He put the gun to my face and took the hammer off the gun and I knew he wasn’t joking,” said North Side Market owner Sam Saad.

It’s the third armed robbery in Syracuse in just two weeks, according to police.

For Saad it was two minutes of terror.

“If he thinks I’m a threat to him he’ll shoot me, so I [had] to be calm and make him calm,” Saad said.

Syracuse Police Sergeant Tom Connellan says if someone points a gun at you, just give them what they want.

“Our feeling is this, if someone points a gun at you, it’s not worth getting hurt. Be a really good witness and get as much information as you can,” Sgt. Connellan said.

Saad invested in surveillance cameras – inside and outside – and will take added steps to protect his livelihood.

“We have to stay and work. We have families to take care of and he’s not going to stop us,” Saad told NewsChannel 9.

Police are hoping you can help put a stop to this robber. The suspect is believed to be 5'10" tall and was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with a dog emblem -- possibly a St. Bernard -- on the back of the jacket. He was also wearing a green ball cap and green cargo pants.
