Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – The Syracuse City Ballet is looking for help from the community after a warehouse fire ruined countless costumes, theater backdrops, and props used for a special annual performance.

A fire erupted nearly two weeks ago in a warehouse the ballet uses for storage on Spencer Street.

The materials destroyed are used in the ballet’s performance of Nutcracker.

The ballet’s artistic director Kathleen Rathbun said, “We're pretty much left with nothing, we've taken the costumes to a cleaner, but the snow costumes are black, we have nothing, it’s very devastating.”

Rathbun said that insurance will not cover most of the damage.

The ballet is asking for people to donate to help replace the items.

To donate, visit SyracuseCityBallet.com or call 315-487-4879.
