Syracuse-area men accused of selling assault rifles in Oswego

Police have arrested two men who they say were trying to peddle assault rifles illegally in the city of Oswego.

Oswego (WSYR-TV) – Police have arrested two men who they say were trying to peddle assault rifles illegally in the city of Oswego.

According to police, Kiel Dudley of East Syracuse and Anthony Longo of Liverpool both tried to sell a GSG .22 caliber assault rifle and an Izmash Saiga .223 caliber assault rifle to an undercover officer on Thursday afternoon at a parking area north of Leto Island along State Route 481 in the city of Oswego. Both weapons were loaded.

After the officer purchased the guns, the two men were taken into custody.

Dudley and Longo were charged with:

  • Criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a class C felony
  • Criminal possession of an assault weapon in the third degree, a class D felony, two counts each
  • Criminal sale of a firearm in the third degree, a class D felony, two counts each
  • Criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a class D felony, one count each

As of 11:30 a.m., the two men were at the Oswego Police Department awaiting arraignment.
