Seneca County (WSYR-TV) -- A tentative trial date has been set for a man accused of killing his son four years ago.

The Seneca County District Attorney’s Office offered Karl Karlsen a plea deal, but he rejected it on Monday.

Police believe Karlsen killed his son, 23-year-old Levi Karlsen, and made it look like an accident for insurance money.

According to the Seneca County Sheriff’s Department, Karlsen increased his son’s life insurance policy just days before Levi was crushed by a car he was working on.

Karl Karlsen is expected to go on trial on October 28.
