Trooper placed on restricted duty after releasing bloodied Boston bomber photos

A Massachusetts State Police Sergeant has been placed on restricted duty following the release of photos from the night the Boston Marathon bombing suspect was taken into police custody.
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A Massachusetts State Police Sergeant has been placed on restricted duty following the release of photos from the night the Boston Marathon bombing suspect was taken into police custody.

Sergeant Sean Murphy said he released the photos of a bloodied Dzhokhar Tsarnaev to a magazine because he was angry over the Rolling Stone cover featuring Tsarnaev.

"Sgt. Murphy acted from the heart. And I admire it. He showed courage in putting it out there with his name on it,” said Sergeant Murphy's lawyer Leonard Kesten.

Massachusetts State Police say Sergeant Murphy will remain on restricted duty until a full internal investigation is complete.
