Two 18-year-olds arrested after vehicles stolen in Ithaca & Elmira

Both are now in custody.
Ithaca (WSYR-TV) - Two 18-year-old men are in custody after law enforcement officers in Ithaca and Elmira said they stole two vehicles on Saturday.

Police said the incident started after a vehicle was stolen from the Green Street Parking Garage in Ithaca around 1:20 p.m.

Police said the vehicle hit a parked car on the way out of the garage. Ithaca Police put out a state-wide alert for the stolen vehicle.

Around 4:00 p.m., Elmira City Police said they found the stolen vehicle but no one was in it.

Shortly after that, Elmira City Police responded to a call for another stolen vehicle near where the vehicle stolen from Ithaca was located.

Just after 5:30 p.m., a Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputy spotted the vehicle stolen from Elmira on Route 13A approaching the Ithaca city line.

The deputy tried to pull the vehicle over using his lights and siren in the 300 block of Floral Avenue but the driver continued to drive.

Officers then dropped stop sticks in the road to stop the vehicle from going any further.

The driver saw this and slammed on his brakes, stopping a few feet in front of the stop sticks. The two people in the vehicle, Luke Morrow of Ithaca and Osric Bush of Dryden, were taken into custody.

Officers eventually determined it was Bush who stole the vehicle from the Ithaca parking garage.

  • Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree, Class E Felony
  • Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree, Class E Felony
  • Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Violation
  • Failure to Yield Right of Way, Emergency Vehicle Violation

Luke Morrow is charged with:
  • Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree, Class E Felony
Both have been arraigned on the charges and are being held in the Tompkins County Jail on $5,000 cash bail and $10,000 secured bond.
