UN: Snipers fired on inspectors in Syria

United Nations officials say snipers in Syria fired on inspectors sent to investigate an alleged chemical weapons attack in a suburb of Damascus.
Damascus, Syria (WSYR-TV) – United Nations officials say snipers in Syria fired on inspectors sent to investigate an alleged chemical weapons attack in a suburb of Damascus.

According to CNN and other media, the inspection team made it safely back to a checkpoint, but will return to the area.

The Syrian government says the snipers are terrorists.

The UN has declined to say who it thinks is behind the incident, although they indicated in a statement that the vehicle was “deliberately shot at multiple times by unidentified snipers in the buffer zone area.”

The Syrian government denies that it has used poison gas.
