Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- A candlelight vigil held Wednesday night marked two years since a toddler was shot and killed in a gang-related drive by.

20-month-old Rashaad Walker was in the car seat of a minivan when Saquan Evans fired shots at his father. The bullets missed Walker, Sr., but killed Rashaad.

Family members say the vigil was a way to highlight gang-related issues before more people suffer.

“We always remember him and maybe people will take a look at this and want to thing about what they’re doing when they go slinging them guns, thinking that they might take an innocent life and they might stop and just put the gun down,” said Rashaad’s grandmother Renee Beswick.

Evans was convicted of murder in March of this year.
