Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A popular Upstate New York-based grocery chain is offering its veteran employees buyout packages.

Wegmans is offering the buyout for its employees who are 58 years old or older with 15 years or more worth of continuous service.

Each worker who participates will receive two weeks’ worth of pay for each year they’ve been with the chain – and health insurance for six months.

The option will be available through the end of the year.

The company estimates that among its 25,000 employees, only 100 will participate.

They say the program is voluntary and they do not anticipate any layoffs.
