Baby sitter charged in infant death investigation in Chenango County

Pitcher (WSYR-TV) – The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office says the woman arrested in connection to an infant's death in Sept. was baby sitting the child at the time of her death.

A medical examiner has determined that 3-month-old Brenna Quinn’s death was a homicide.

Deputies say 38-year-old Geneia Rood, of Pitcher, was baby sitting Quinn on Sept. 5 in the town of Pitcher when she died.

Rood has been charged with Manslaughter in the 2nd Degree.

A doctor discovered alcohol in Quinn’s system, according to the sheriff’s office.

Rood was arraigned in Chenango County Court and sent to the Chenango County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 cash bail.
