Loud noise echoing through Syracuse: Your Stories

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - NewsChannel 9 received several phone calls and emails overnight with callers asking about a “loud banging noise” throughout the city of Syracuse.

The Department of Transportation confirms the noise is being cause by the construction on I-690.

Crews are removing the concrete bridge deck and that's what's causing the noise.

The work is happening overnight because there are fewer cars on the road.

Neighbors may hear more loud noise Thursday evening because that portion of the project will be wrapping up that evening.

By Monday, the steel beams should be removed as well but the DOT ensures that is a quieter operation.

Dispatchers told NewsChannel 9 that they had received similar calls.
