Lynyrd Skynyrd, Stephen Marley to perform at Chevy Court

GEDDES, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Legend Lynyrd Skynyrd will return to the Chevy Court on Sunday Aug. 27 for a blistering rock show at the New York State Fair.

The legacy began more than four decades ago in Jacksonville, Florida, and halted for a decade by the 1977 plane crash that killed three band members, including Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines.

With a catalog of over 60 albums, sales beyond 30 million worldwide and their beloved classic American rock anthem “Sweet Home Alabama” having over two million downloaded ringtones, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band Lynyrd Skynyrd remains a cultural icon that appeals to all generations.

Lynyrd Skynyrd takes the stage at 1 p.m.

Also performing at Chevy Court this year is Stephen "Ragga" Marley, the second oldest son of reggae legend Bob Marley. He takes the stage on Aug. 26 at 2 p.m.

The singer, songwriter, musician and producer has consecutively landed #1 on the U.S. Billboard Reggae Album Chart for all his solo albums and has earned eight Grammys for Best Reggae Album.

This will be the sixth appearance at the Fair for Lynyrd Skynyrd and the debut for Stephen Marley as a lead performer, though he was part of Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers when the band performed at the Fair in 1989.
