Man accused in brutal abuse of Oswego County child charged with rape

ALBION, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - An Oswego County man suspected in the alleged torture of a 10-year-old girl from Albion is now facing rape charges.

Gary Bubis Jr. was arrested on Tuesday for first-degree rape. The charges stem from an incident that allegedly occurred in the fall of 2014 in the Town of Albion where Bubis allegedly forced a victim to have sex with him.

The victim was 19-years-old at the time of the alleged incident.

Bubis was accused of brutally beating a 10-year-old over the course of several months. He allegedly used a “beating stick,” which was a rolled up newspaper wrapped in electrical tape.

The child allegedly endured other harsh measures like being forced to run for hours with a pillowcase filled with heavy objects and running in front of a car while being tied to it.

The rape charge was not connected to the victim in the alleged torture case.

Undersheriff Gene Sullivan said the rape charge was a result of the ongoing investigation into the abuse case.

Bubis was sent back to the Oswego County Jail on $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond.

The case is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office at 315-349-3411.
