More mumps cases confirmed at Syracuse University

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - The number of cases of the mumps at Syracuse University has expanded to 22, the school said on Friday.

In a letter to students and staff, the school indicated that it expects more cases to appear in the short term because of the speed at which the mumps can spread.

According to the letter, officials believe their efforts to combat the spread of the mumps are working as more students are visiting the Office of Health Services as soon as they experience symptoms.

The school is extending its hours to help accommodate students, and established a 24-hour-a-day call center.

If you’re concerned about the mumps, call (315) 443-9005.
