The sign is still dark for a few more days as contractors complete the wiring.
Fair officials say the sign is one of many changes at the annual event, including road upgrades, upgrades to the main parking lot and upgrades to the main parking lot.
Acting Fair Director Troy Waffner says the time for a new sign had arrived.
"The first thing you see is the giant piece of steel in the front, for years, for the last few years the sign has looked dysfunctional, we sell advertising on it, there have been different billboards it was so busy, there was no cohesive look,” he said.
The sign was installed by JLR Signs in Warners.
