NORWICH, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - A Norwich man has been arrested Wednesday for allegedly firing a rifle negligently, causing the death of a teenager.
25-year-old James Maricle was charged with criminally negligent homicide and second-degree criminal contempt.
Maricle was charged with criminal contempt for allegedly disobeying an order of protection. The order of protection prohibited Maricle from possessing or purchasing any firearms.
According to Norwich Police, Maricle accidentally shot 19-year-old Roxanne Shipman inside a Division Street home on Dec. 1.
Maricle was arraigned and sent to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $1,500 cash bail.
He is scheduled to re-appear in Norwich City Court on Dec. 22.
