Police say Calvin Weaver had a bizarre reaction when a child playing in the street simply called out his name in May.
“He in turn began to yell at her, threatened her and called her vulgar names,” said Sgt. John Savage with the Syracuse Police Warrant Squad.
Police say a woman sitting on a front porch in the 100 block of Amherst Avenue came to the child's defense, but ended up defending herself when a plastic recycling bin was hurled at her.
“She was able to deflect that before it hit her squarely. Weaver then picked up a brick that was on the side of the road and threw the brick at her,” Sgt. Savage said.
Police say the brick struck the woman's leg.
Weaver - who police say has been arrested 15 previous times with five of those felonies - is now wanted for Assault in the 2nd Degree.
“He has had a few different addresses in a short period of time, mostly on the South Side of the city,” Sgt. John Savage said. “There is one prior address in Auburn. It is possible he has friends and relatives in that area and could be out in that area as well.”
Police describe Weaver as:
- African-American male
- 5’6” tall
- 165 pounds
- Black hair
- Brown eyes
