Ithaca Police seek suspect information after bank robbery

ITHACA, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Ithaca Police are asking for the public's help following a bank robbery Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators say around 4:39 p.m., a black man walked into the Tompkins County Trust Company on South Meadow Street. He was holding a handgun by his side and demanded that a teller put money into a white plastic bag.

After complying with his demands, the man ran off with an unknown amount of money. He was seen heading south behind several businesses on Elmira Road.

Police say the man was dressed in a dark blue or black hooded sweatshirt, dark blue jeans, white sneakers, and had a mask covering his face. He is described as having a thin build, approximately 5'10" tall, and a soft spoken voice.
