DeWitt (WSYR-TV) - DeWitt Police are searching for a robber ‘Caught On Tape’ threatening a store clerk before making off with the register's loot.

Police say the robber asked the store clerk, “Do you want to get shot?”

The robbery was caught on surveillance footage on Saturday, Nov. 16 at about 5:30 p.m. at the Food Bag on West Manlius Street, which is across from the James Street Wegmans location.

Police say the man was quick and deliberate, heading straight to the counter, claiming to have a weapon.

“He did threaten the use of a gun. He asked her if she wanted to get shot, but there was no gun observed and no weapon seen in the video,” said Tim Farley, an Investigator with the DeWitt Police Department. “Of course for her safety, she complied and puts the cash drawer on the counter, at which time he takes the cash out of the drawer, empties the entire register, and immediately leaves the store on foot.”

No getaway car was spotted, leading detectives to believe the robber probably lives in a nearby neighborhood, in East Syracuse or DeWitt.

Store employees say the man doesn't look familiar to anyone at the convenience store.

The height bar shows he's about 6-feet tall, with a thin build. He was clean shaven and at the time was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and cap.
