Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Syracuse Police are hoping you can help them identify a suspect they say was “Caught On Tape” kicking in a storefront window on Marshall Street.

Crepe and Gelato Boulevard may have been the target, but newly installed surveillance cameras at a shop nearby caught the act on tape.

“We had our window broken between 3 and 5 months ago, so we decided to upgrade our surveillance system and put two cameras on the outside,” said Manny’s owner Bill Nester.

At about 1 a.m. on Friday, police say a young man wearing red pants was seen kicking in the glass storefront of Crepe and Gelato Boulevard. He appeared to leave, returning to the scene later.

The suspect lifts his foot, but police say he does not appear to be injured.

Taking a look at the damaged window and all the shattered glass left behind, Nester says it's fortunate no one was hurt.

“These glass shards can come right down on you. People have been killed or severely injured by the pieces of glass coming down on them and we fear for his safety as well,” Nester said. “We've all gone through it. We've all had our windows broken throughout the years.”

Police are working on potential leads, and welcome any additional information that can help their investigation.

Anyone with information is urged to call investigators at (315) 448-8650. All calls will remain confidential.
