Onondaga County extends travel advisory until 5 p.m. on Wednesday

County warns potential for hazardous road conditions

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Onondaga County has issued a travel advisory warning drivers of the potential for hazardous road conditions.

The advisory will be in effect until 5 p.m. on Wednesday. 

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning in anticipation of heavy snows throughout the region.

Strong winds are also expected throughout Central New York.

The county is asking drivers to exercise “extreme caution” on the roadways.

The county is offering the following guidelines for driver:

-          Travel at reduced speeds to allow for increased reaction time
-          Allow additional time to reach your destination
-          Completely clear your vehicle of snow and ice
-          Move over and slow down when approaching emergency vehicles or tow trucks
-          Do not pass snow plows.
