Pair sentenced for roles in murder of SU student

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -

Two men were sentenced on Monday for their involvement in the deadly robbery of a Syracuse University student last year.

Cameron Isaac was found guilty of murdering Xiaopeng Yuan, a Chinese student studying at SU, and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Ninimbe Mitchell, who served as the getaway driver, was acquitted of murder but found guilty of robbery back in August.

Mitchell was sentenced to a 15-year prison sentence.

Isaac shot and killed 23-year-old Yuan near the LeMoyne Campus at the Springfield Garden Apartments in late September.

Investigators say the pair met with the victim for a drug transaction at the apartment complex, a seemingly random location.
