Police: Suspect conned man out of nearly $10,000

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Syracuse Police are looking for the latest Fugitive of the Week who they say took advantage of a man with special needs, putting him out thousands of dollars.

Police say 49-year-old Kevin Costello convinced the man that he could get him a job with CSX railroad.

Costello told the man that he would have to go to ATMs and withdraw money, which the man believed was going toward employment at CSX.

This allegedly went on for three months, taking $8,000 to $10,000 from the man’s bank account.

“When the victim found out he wasn't employed by CSX, he tried to get his money back and at that point, Mr. Costello disappeared,” said Sgt. Mike Smith with the Syracuse Police.

Costello is 6’02” and weighs about 250 pounds.

If you have any information regarding his whereabouts, give Syracuse Police Warrant Squad a call at 315-442-5230.
