PORT BYRON, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Officials in the Port Byron school district say a social media threat reported by a student was fake.
The district released a statement indicating that it had notified State Police, who investigated the claim.
As police were investigating, the student revealed that there had never been such a threat.
District officials say the Port Byron Central School District remains safe.
The student who made the claim will face disciplinary action, and possible legal consequences, officials say.
Two weeks ago, a sixth-grader was at the center of a row in the district.
State Police say the child was arrested for making a terroristic threat.
