Pulaski (WSYR-TV) – A retired restaurant owner in Oswego County was handed a $1 million novelty check on Tuesday for winning the New York State Lottery.

Barbara Krupke had stopped at Kinney Drugs on Rome Road in Pulaski in May to pick up bird seed when she decided to try her luck with the Lottery.

She won the $1 million prize with a $10 Set For Life ticket and a $5 25X the Cash ticket, which she purchased with $15 she’d won on previous Lottery tickets.

Krupke chose to take her winnings in one lump sum, which means she will receive a total of $502,968.

Krupke said she would use the money to give back to her family.
