‘Urgent warning' issued for potential dangers of Lay-Z Board hoverboards

The product has not officially been recalled

WSYR-TV - The Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued an ‘urgent warning’ about the Lay-Z-Board hoverboards, telling consumers to stop riding and charging them immediately.

In March, a Lay-Z Board burst into flames while plugged into an electrical outlet inside a Pennsylvania home.

The fire killed two children, and was the first fire directly related to an exploding hoverboard.

More than 100 other non-fatal incidents related to hoverboards manufactured by a variety of companies are being investigated.

No recall for Lay-Z Boards has been issued, because the company, based in China, is reportedly refusing to cooperate.
