SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - JCPenney plans on closing as many as 140 stores this year, and the Destiny USA location is among the most likely to close, according to projections.
Citing Morningstar Credit Ratings, Business Insider says the Destiny store is one of two in New York State that are at risk.
The chain has not said how many people will be laid off, but noted that it will offer retirement to 6,000 full-time employees.
JCPenney says it is closing stores that require a significant investment or have below-average sales.
The closings should take place by the end of June.
