Report: Miner could challenge Cuomo

ALBANY, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Stephanie Miner is nearing the end of her run as Syracuse’s mayor, and there is rampant speculation regarding her next step.

According to a New York Daily News writer, that next step might be challenging her Democratic rival Andrew Cuomo in a primary in 2018.

Daily News Albany bureau chief Kenneth Lovett says Miner has not ruled out running against Cuomo.

Miner reportedly told Lovett that multiple people have talked to her about running for Governor, Congress, or State Senate.

A recent Siena College poll indicated that Cuomo registered his lowest favorability rating in over a year.

Miner stepped down as co-chair of the state’s Democratic party shortly after a spat with the Governor.

Since then, she has been a vocal critic of Cuomo on a number of occasions – particularly over issues impacting Upstate New York’s small cities.
