Brewerton (WSYR-TV) – The Route 11 bridge over the Oneida River in Brewerton is re-open to traffic in both directions, but with a 20 ton weight restriction.

The bridge was shut down for emergency repairs on Thursday.

A Thursday morning inspection indicated that the steel connection in the floor beams near the south end of the bridge had deteriorated.

The road is now re-open because a temporary repair "carrier" beam was installed in the northbound shoulder, which remains closed.

The bridge is located on the border separating Onondaga and Oswego counties.

The DOT says a more permanent repair will be made in the near future.

Vehicles over the 20 ton limit must use an alternate route, such as Bartel Road, I-81, and State Route 49.
