SCSD: Tests confirm bed bugs found in Henninger High School

SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) - The Syracuse City School District confirmed on Friday that bed bugs were found inside Henninger High School.

A district spokesperson says it has cleaned and disinfected all areas affected by three bed bugs found at Henninger High School.

The bugs were found Thursday at the school.

The bugs were sent to a pest management company to see what they were.  The tests confirmed the bugs were bed bugs.

The district says at this point no additional bugs have been found.

We're told the affected and surrounding/adjacent rooms were all cleaned.  The spokesperson says the furniture was cleaned and disinfected, the floors were vacuumed, they were then mopped and disinfected again, and all surfaces (desks, countertops, etc) were cleaned and disinfected.

The District’s Facilities Office is monitoring the situation and will continue working with the pest management company to determine if we need to do anything additional.

The district is also providing parents with some resources and information on bed bugs now that it has been confirmed what the bugs are.
