Sheriff's Office identifies man killed in Cortland County crash

CINCINNATUS, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office has released the identity of a man who was killed in a crash in the Town of Cincinnatus early Sunday morning.

Investigators believe excessive speed was a factor in the crash on Route 41 that killed 44-year-old Robert Fink around 7 a.m., but the investigation is still open.

Investigators say Fink’s vehicle left the roadway rounding a curve. As it left the roadway, it struck an embankment and went airborne, shearing a telephone pole and rolling several times.

Fink was the only person in the car at the time of the accident.

Route 41 was closed for three hours Sunday morning as officers investigated and emergency crews removed the vehicle and the debris.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.

Anyone with information regarding the accident is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at 607-758-5564.
