North Syracuse man killed in deadly crash on Brewerton Road

CICERO, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim in Friday's deadly motorcycle crash on Brewerton Road in Cicero.

Investigators say 51-year-old James Hotchkiss of North Syracuse was killed when an SUV turned into the path of his bike, while turning left on Crabtree Lane.

A nearby citizen rushed over and began performing CPR on Hotchkiss before emergency crews arrived. He was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the SUV sustained minor injuries and has not been ticketed.  

The crash in between Factory Street and Crabtree Lane was reported around 5:05 p.m.

Onondaga County 911 dispatchers tell NewsChannel 9 that the roadway was shut down in both directions for several hours. The roadway was reopened around 9:00pm.

The accident remains under investigation.
