Some SU students banned from Golisano Children's Hospital due to mumps outbreak

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Some volunteers at Syracuse University have been banned from Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital due to the mumps outbreak on campus.

These students assist Child Life Specialists with various activities, such as reading to patients, taking them on an outing with the hospital, assisting with crafts and games or cleaning up the playroom.

About 25 SU students are affected by this restriction.

The Onondaga County Health Department says there are 27 reported cases of mumps, with majority of them among students from SU. At this time, there are additional 47 probable cases.

Visitors from Syracuse University are not impacted by this ban.
