MARION, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - State Police have identified a man who was found dead in a car that had flipped over into a creek in Wayne County on Monday.
35-year-old Adam Vitalone of Marion was killed when his vehicle travelled off of the roadway and then landed in the creek near East Williamson and Podger roads in Marion.
A passerby noticed a car upside down in a drainage ditch around 1 p.m. Monday.
Troopers say nearly two thirds of the car was submerged, and it looked like the man tried to get out.
Troopers have talked to neighbors who heard a crash around 9 p.m. Sunday night, but they thought it was nothing.
"Weather may have been a factor," said Trooper Mark O'Donnell. "We're not really sure, but if you were out last night, you know it was snowing and a lot of the roads are snow covered and slippery."
Troopers are still investigating the crash.
