State Police identify 4 people killed in milk tanker crash on I-81

SANDY CREEK, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - State Police have identified four people who were killed in a crash involving a milk tanker on I-81 North in the town of Sandy Creek.

The crash reportedly occurred around 11:38 p.m. Wednesday night when the tanker driver swerved to avoid deer, but ended up jack-knifing.

With the tanker blocking both lanes, a Mercury Sable driven by 50-year-old Corey Moore of Canton crashed into the tanker.

Two passengers were riding with Moore - 63-year-old Roderick Cota of Norwood and 58-year-old Gregg Williams of De Kalb.

All three men worked for R.B. Ambulance in Canton.

All three died in the crash.

A second driver - 52-year-old Dr. Moonjohn Kim of Ellicott City, Maryland – was killed when his vehicle also struck the milk tanker.

Kim was a doctor at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown.

The milk tanker driver was not injured in the crash.

The highway was closed until about 7 a.m.
