State Police investigating Rome woman's accidental drowning

WESTERN, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - State Police are investigating after a Rome woman drowned at Delta Reservoir on Sunday.

State Police responded to the scene off of State Route 46 in the Oneida County town of Western at 6 p.m.

They say 55-year-old Maryellen Hall was swimming with her family members when she
“became distressed.”

Family members reportedly tried to help her, but were unsuccessful, according to police.

They say a passing boater was able to help pull her into a boat, and administer CPR.

She was transported to Rome Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
