State Police looking for leads in Baldwinsville cold case murder

BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - State Police are looking for new leads in the 1980 murder of a Baldwinsville man.

The body of 28-year-old Stephen Forbes – who lived in the Village Green Apartments – was found in a wooded area on a dirt road that led off of Route 20 in the town of LaFayette on Aug. 19, 1980.

The area where Forbes was found was littered with construction debris and garbage, according to State Police.

A little over a month before - on July 8 - Forbes had disappeared after being seen leaving a friend’s home on Vine Street in Liverpool at 2 p.m.

Forbes – who was a business partner in the Novel T-Shirt Store in Phoenix - was driving a blue, 1977 Dodge pickup truck, which was found unattended in a long-term parking lot at Hancock International Airport.

If you have any information that might help State Police, call Senior Investigator Reece Treen at (315) 366-6003.

All calls can remain confidential.
