(WSYR-TV, Syracuse)  Strong south-southeast winds across CNY will continue until midnight.

Winds have gusted to 35-37 mph at Hancock airport so far today, with the potential for gusts of at least that strength through 6 pm.

High winds speeds are likely over higher elevations, the north ends of the Finger Lakes, and the west end of Oneida Lake.

After midnight, the wind speeds will begin to come down.  Friday morning, winds should be west-southwest under 10 mph.

The strong winds are ahead of a cold front which will bring a BIG drop in temperature (temps should be around 50 Friday afternoon) and 1-3" of rain for ALL of CNY.  Flash flood watches are in effect for ALL of CNY through Friday, indicating the potential for localized flooding.
