SU students experience "mixed reality" with the HoloLens

HoloLens lets you stay in your world while projecting images into it

SYRACUSE (WSYR-TV) - The future is now— at least for some Syracuse University students.

Almost as quickly as virtual reality is hitting the market, the next innovation, mixed reality, is here.

Instead of being taken somewhere else, Microsoft’s new HoloLens lets you stay in your world while projecting things into it.

"They're going to have to adopt this kind of media because we're more and more visual.  We want to immerse ourselves and we want to feel like we're part of the story,” said Carla Sertin, an SU grad student.

Right now, the HoloLens is about $3,000, but it’s not available to the general public yet, only a limited group of developers.
