DEWITT, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - The annual day of romance has arrived.
Valentine’s Day is important not only to couples - but also to many retailers.
According to the National Retail Federation Valentine’s Day Consumer Spending Survey, spending is projected to drop slightly from last year’s record high $19.6 billion.
But people are still expected to spend $18.2 billion - about $136.57 per person - and 90 percent of those surveyed plan on buying a gift for a significant other.
But what are they spending their money on?
According to the survey service Statista, people expect spend their money on candy, followed by greeting cards and flowers.
