Syracuse arson suspect caught shortly after early morning fire

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Syracuse Police were able to make an arrest shortly after investigators determined that a fire on South Salina Street was intentionally set early Tuesday morning.

Police and fire crews responded to the scene around 1:45 a.m., and the fire was quickly extinguished.

After talking to some of the people who lived in the building, police found a witness who gave them information about the suspect.

Police located and arrested 32-year-old Nicole Stanton a short time later and charged her with second-degree arson and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

They say the incident erupted because of an ongoing dispute between Stanton and one of the residents.

No one was injured during the fire.
