Syracuse Fire Department identifies victim in deadly Midland Ave fire

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - The Syracuse Fire Department has released the identity of a woman killed in a fire on Midland Avenue last week.

They say 61-year-old Rosaleane Mike died during the fire.

When fire crews responded to the scene shortly before 6 p.m., they were challenged by a significant amount of clutter around the home.

Initially, they confirmed fire on the second floor, originating in a sofa.

They believe that the fire was caused by careless smoking.

Four other people who lived in the residence are being helped by the Red Cross.

They say working smoke detectors that had been installed by the Syracuse Fire Department were found in the home.
